Dakshin Chitra

Yesterday was an unusually lazy Sunday - We woke up late (so late that I'm ashamed to tell you when :D) and sat around like couch potatoes for a while, and then I wanted to go for a drive. So we decided to go to Dakshin Chitra, an arts, crafts and architecture village near Chennai that showcases the cultures of the four South Indian states. The place is famous for traditional heritage homes relocated from the four states - a few that I can remember are Ikkat and Chutillu homes from Andhra Pradesh, Chettinad and Tanjore homes from Tamil Nadu, and some from Kerala and Karnataka too.  They also have workshops on different traditional arts and crafts, folk performances and a few shops selling traditional handcrafted products.

And finally, MEEE! :)

  5. I've been to this place in 2008 and fell in love with the place. Watched a guy make a Ganesh idol with glass, dabbled in pottery and even had a parrot tell me my future :)
