Jaipur

I just got back from a holiday to Delhi and Jaipur with my family. 
It was fantastic, all I did was shop and take pictures! And eat, of course!
This post is going to be about Jaipur. Here's what I loved in the Pink City :) 

The Hawa Mahal, of course :) It was built with all these window-like structures so that the queens could catch a view of what was happening outside on the streets.
Elephants!
The beautiful City Palace: And this is the Amer Fort. Many scenes in Jodha Akbar were shot here:
Chai at dirty roadside dhabas :) The Jantar Mantar. I particularly liked the Rashivalayas - 12 observatories, one for each sun sign. Here's the painting on the Gemini observatory (I'm a Gemini ;-)):
Ethnic footwear in camel leather:
Bandhni (Tie and Dye)
Gem cutting and polishing:
Block printing:
The difficult part about such trips is getting back to the grind when it's over!

    Oh, your post brings me back to one of my favorite places. Yes, it was a crazy city (so much going on!), but I loved Amer fort and Bapu Bazaar the best and the tea stalls and the elephants and pretty much everything else you wrote about.
    Thank you for the mini-trip back there. It was fun.

    There's something about Rajasthan, that appeals to the Peter Pan in me! I wanna go back to my dreamland, be a prince, ride out in the vast, open deserts, wage wars... You get the drift? ;)

    I can't get enough of this post. I am an ardent lover of block printing and bandhini and jaipur is my dream destination.Had been waiting forever to get there.
    So did you buy the blocks? DO you get them easy in Jaipur? Will be of great help to me
    And will be really cool if you can show us pics of your loot :)
