This Dusshera, I am in Chennai, and people here celebrate the festival by putting up a Navratri Golu (read about it here) during the 9 days from Mahalaya to Dashami. At this time of the year, the area near the Mylapore tank fills up with stalls selling thousands and thousands of brightly painted mud dolls of all sizes, shapes and colours. Put it on your must-see list if you are a tourist visiting this part of the country during Dusshera - it is the most amazing sight - dolls, dolls and dolls EVERYWHERE!
